Single-sided PV modules have been in the renewable
energy market for over 25 years and we are now beginning
to see the first units requiring recycling. 

These panels contain various materials, with older models often
including lead in solder joints — before the risks were fully understood.
Proper treatment at licensed facilities is essential to recover valuable
resources and reduce landfill impact.

Types of PV-modules and components we recycle:

  • Glass Components
  • Aluminium Frame
  • Silicon (Semiconductor Layer)
  • Materials like: Copper, Silver, Tin, Indium, Gallium,
    Tellurium, Cadmium and Lead
  • Plastic/Polymer Encapsulants
    (e.g. EVA – Ethylene Vinyl Acetate)

Where possible, newer silicon-based modules are retested for safety and re-purposed for use in community energy projects, especially in under served areas. At end-of-life, all components are recycled — except for the plastic back-sheet, which is currently not recyclable.
